Position Overview

Role Description
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will own the administration, reliability, and security of Atlassian’s identity federation and SaaS platforms. You will ensure seamless user lifecycle management, secure authentication, compliance readiness, and operational scalability.
This role requires deep hands-on expertise in Okta, SaaS platform administration, automation tools, and security monitoring, along with the ability to design repeatable, auditable, and scalable system configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer Okta for identity federation, SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle management
- Manage SaaS service configurations using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform or similar)
- Oversee configuration, licensing, policies, and maintenance across platforms such as:
- Google Workspace
- Slack
- Proofpoint
- Dropbox
- Microsoft Entra ID / Office 365
- Partner closely with Security and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to:
- FEDRAMP
- SOC 2
- ISO 27001
- Other regulatory and audit requirements
- Maintain and enhance email security posture using Proofpoint and Google Workspace
- Monitor platform health via dashboards and vendor portals
- Identify performance bottlenecks and configuration drift
- Respond to critical escalations and coordinate with vendors during outages or sync failures
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and health-check automation
- Audit access logs and configurations using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk)
- Maintain detailed documentation, architecture diagrams, and run-books
- Ensure all scripts and configurations are maintained under version control
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support and help resolve systemic root causes
- Build self-service tools and user documentation to reduce operational load
Required Skills and Technical Expertise
Identity and Access Management
- Strong hands-on experience with Okta
- Expertise in SSO, MFA, identity federation, and user provisioning
- Experience managing SaaS identity integrations
SaaS Platform Administration
- Administration experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Office 365, Dropbox
- Strong understanding of licensing models, policy enforcement, and access controls
Automation and Configuration Management
- Experience managing configurations as code using Terraform or similar tools
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git or equivalent)
